NAACP Easton Branch 2260 – April General Body Meeting Summary

The NAACP Easton Branch 2260 held its General Body Meeting on April 6, 2026, bringing together community members, leadership, and partners to discuss ongoing initiatives, upcoming events, and key issues impacting the Easton community.

The branch continues to prioritize voter registration and civil rights advocacy, aligning with national efforts led by the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Locally, the branch will partner with the Pennsylvania Black Democrats and Delta Sigma Theta to strengthen voter engagement and address concerns around voter suppression.

A major focus of the meeting was the upcoming Health & Wellness Event on May 16 at Riverside Park (12 PM–4 PM). This event will feature 17–20 vendors, free health services, a children’s activity zone, and live demonstrations. The event is strategically timed to align with the Easton Farmers Market to maximize community participation.

The branch also highlighted progress on the South Side Community Library, located at 394 W. Berwick Street. This initiative aims to restore access to educational resources and bridge the digital divide in the community. With inspections complete, the project is moving toward final approvals and future operations.

Looking ahead, the NAACP Easton Branch is actively planning its involvement in the Juneteenth Lehigh Valley celebration on June 13, which will be hosted in Easton for the first time. The branch is exploring opportunities to host a fish fry and voter registration efforts during the event to increase community engagement and membership.
Additional fundraising initiatives discussed include a community talent show, as well as a bake-off or chili cook-off, all designed to support branch programs while bringing the community together.

The meeting also included updates from local leadership regarding ongoing city developments, including efforts to preserve and recognize historically significant African American burial grounds in Easton.

Overall, the meeting reflected the branch’s continued commitment to advocacy, community service, and empowerment, with a strong focus on building sustainable programs that uplift and support the Easton community.
