John M. Robinson

May 22, 1945 ~ October 13, 2020

John Moses Robinson, 75, of Easton, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Born on May 22, 1945 in Montgomery, Georgia, he was the son of the late Marvin Robinson and Fleater Currie (Coney). John spent his early years living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the age of 12 his grandmother and grandfather, the late Charles “Burger” and Janie Hines, moved and raised him in Easton, PA.

 

John, an Easton Area High School graduate, was highly competitive on the football and track teams. He later continued his education at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. In the spring of 1969 when attending EWC, he joined Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He proudly served his fraternity for 51 years becoming Life Member 129 “And Don’t You Forget It!”.

 

John, also known as “J.R”, was a highly skilled entrepreneur and businessman. He founded Black Diamond Enterprises, Ltd., a stainless-steel manufacturing company, in 1976 in Washington D.C. in the back seat of his car. Through the years he successfully spearheaded major projects both nationally and locally. His final project, The Mills at Easton, exemplifies his commitment to community in his beloved Easton.

 

In the summer of ‘93, John moved his family to College Hill and his business to the South Side of Easton, Pennsylvania. Since moving back to Easton, he remained highly involved with community organizations including the Northampton County Prison Board, Easton Branch NAACP, Women’s League of Voters, and AARP.

 

Surviving are his daughters Shannon Green and her husband William Green, Jr. of Florida and Faith Robinson of Maryland. His sons Gabriel and Joshua Robinson of Pennsylvania, and granddaughter Amira Hash. He leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends
